MESA, Ariz. – Police say it appears a mother of a patient at a suburban Phoenix children's hospital took her child's life before taking her own.
Authorities say staff at Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa found a woman and her 5-year-old child dead inside the child's room sometime after 2 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators believe the mother killed the child and then herself.
No one else in the hospital was threatened or harmed.
Police did not say the manner in which the mother and child died.
They are continuing the investigation at the scene.
